Thank you for supporting your teams in the 2024 Australian and Computational Linguistics Olympiad. These are the main responsibilities of teachers on Competition Day:

  1. Ensure each team has access to a laptop/computer and a space to work.
  2. At the start of Preparation Time (see schedule below), you will be emailed a PDF of the 2024 Question Book. Please print a copy for each student but do not hand these out until the competition starts.
  3. During Preparation Time, instruct your students to log in to the Competition Site using their team login details. These details were emailed to you on Monday 4th March. Each team must complete the Team Information Questionnaire. Make sure students enter their full names, the correct name of the school and the correct state, as this information will appear on their certificates.
  4. If your students have free time before the competition starts, they can work through practice papers on our Training Materials page.
  5. During Competition Time, supervise students while they work through the Question Book. Students are not permitted to access other information online or elsewhere during the competition, and there must be no conferring between teams. Students should work through their paper copies of the Question Book and then use a device to enter their final answers online via the Competition Site.
  6. After the competition, collect the paper copies of the Question Book. Keep these copies as a backup until the OzCLO organisers have finalised marking. The online quiz saves responses automatically, but in the unlikely event that some responses are lost, we will ask you to scan the paper Question Book and email it to us.

Reminder: Teachers need to invigilate the competition. Students are not allowed to use phones or other devices during the competition. There is one computer per team which can be used to enter the responses into the quiz. Google search is not allowed. Depending on your school policies, you may wish to collect all phones at the start of the competition.

OzCLO 2024 Question Book

The question book will be emailed to you 1 hour before the competition begins. Please print a copy of this for each student participating in the competition. Remember to collect all of the papers at the end of the competition – this is because we have a few schools participating at later times and we do not want the questions to be shared between schools.

Please do not allow students to look through the paper until the competition starts.

Please do not allow students to search for answers online – laptops/computers are only allowed for entering answers via the Competition Site (accessed with team logins).
